As we’re still in the dead of winter, I’d like to give you a quick update on finishing heat: click here to see Enbridge’s recently revised finishing heat activation form to reflect a simplified process which should rectify some earlier challenges faced by builders and their heating contractors.
In cases where a furnace is activated for the first time (a.k.a., a cold start), Enbridge no longer requires the heating contractor section of the finishing heat form to be completed prior to Enbridge activating the service for finishing heat. However, the builder section will still need to be completed (items 1-6) before Enbridge can activate the gas service.
Alternatively, where the service was activated previously (e.g., with a portable construction heater), the process will remain unchanged and the builders heating contractor will need to complete their section of the form.
Please note the very last item on the revised form (Item 3 under “Important”): Final setup and/or commissioning of the furnace system “is the responsibility of the builder’s heating contractor.”
Thanks for reading, and all the best in 2018!
