IHSA is a leader in health and safety education. Through skills-based training, auditing, and evaluation, IHSA provides safety solutions to those who perform high-risk activities such as working at heights, working with energized high-voltage power systems, driving motor vehicles, transporting dangerous goods, working on suspended access equipment, and utility line clearing. The IHSA has a network of labour-management health and safety committees. RESCON is a member of IHSA. RESCON participates in two sub committees: the Section 21 Provincial Labour Management Health and Safety Committee (PLMHSC) and the Construction Legislative Review Committee. The PLMHSC is an advisory committee consisting of representatives from labour, industry, and the Ontario government, and serves to channel information and advice from industry and labour members to the Ministry of Labour. The committee represents over 400,000 construction workers, trade unions, and construction employers. The Construction Legislative Review Committee (CLRC) is a sub-committee of the PLMHSC. It co-ordinates and oversees the review and development of changes to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related Construction regulations.
Ontario Construction Employers Coalition for WSIB and Health & Safety Prevention consists of more than 2,000 firms employing approximately 80,000 workers across Ontario. The CEC purpose is to study and respond to issues related to occupational health and safety, accident prevention and WSIB policies that affect the construction industry.
The CIAC is an industry stakeholder group under the WSIB Chair's Advisory Committee.
The committee regularly meets with the Chair to collectively update the chair on the issues facing their sectors.
