Here's a snapshot of some of the most important issues
for the residential construction industry.

Hearts are heavy among RESCON board members and staff after the death of one of the industry's true gentlemen.

John Kluznik, 64, was a longtime board member with the Metro Toronto Apartment Builders Association, on behalf of The Daniels Corp. where he was senior project manager. Among his strengths were labour relations, technical standards, and training and education.

But he was much more than just a construction executive. John was kind, intelligent and compassionate; he was a quiet leader who commanded respect when he spoke. His loss has been felt deeply by our organization and others.

Daniels Corp. vice-president Sam Tassone, who referred to John as "a dear friend," said: "John's caring and gentle nature, kind heart and genuine warmth, which endeared him to us all, will be greatly missed."

RESCON chair Bruno Giancola, a senior vice-president with Tridel Corp. said: "John was a very knowledgeable contributor to the betterment of our industry, and he brought a keen mind and most of all humanity to the bargaining table."

"He was a good man. He was my RESCON buddy," said fellow board member Jason Morin, vice-president of construction for Arista Homes. "And I will miss him. My sincerest condolences to the Kluznik family for their loss."

We share Jason's sentiment, and we wish his family, including wife Grace, condolences from our entire board and staff.

We will miss John. We were grateful to have been a small part of his journey.
